The new solar-powered plane took off from Abu Dhabi (UAE) last Monday, heading to Muscat, then Oman, India, Myanmar, China and then the U.S.

This is the first solar-powered plane and is expected to fly a distance of 35,000 km during 5 months

This is a historic flight,is the first plane to go on a non-stop journey all around the world, with no gas, the pilots Borschberg and Piccard will fly 500 hours taking turns in its 3.8 m2 cockpit , all of this is happening after 12 years of preparation. Piccard was part of another trip made in a balloon in a non-stop flight in 1999.

The plane`s 72-meter wingspan makes it wider than a Boeing 747, but the plane weighs just 2.5 tons.
